This does not of course eradicate any of your debt but it slows down the rate at which the debt grows every month as interest is added to your account. As with any financial offer you do however have to read the fine print carefully and ensure that you understand exactly what type of contract you are signing. One alternative to credit card debt consolidation is to merely talk to your credit card company and see if they would be willing to lower the interest rate on your current card. You may be surprised to find that with so the current level of competition in the market a lot of companies will look favorably in such a request in order to retain your business.
If you find that despite your best efforts you simply feel that you are not going to be able to get your debt down to a manageable level then you might wish to try negotiating the settlement of your debt with your credit card company. However, negotiating settlement of a credit card debt is something of an art and this is not a path you ought to follow without seeking professional advice.
Unhappily, there is no simple answer to reducing credit card debts and it comes down to a mixture of disciplining yourself into reducing your spending and paying off as much of your balance as you can afford every month.
